Compliance Overview
When considering using a learning management system (LMS) to deliver content under any circumstance, one must consider the value of compliance. The concept of compliance can be nebulous to some. However, understanding the ideas behind compliance will make creating compliant courseware a must.
Simply put, compliance is following a set of guidelines that standardize the delivery of courseware within the e-learning industry.
LMS service providers create systems that are compliant to industry standards. The most common compliance systems are Sharable Courseware Object Reference Model (SCORM) and Aviation Industry CBT Committee (AICC). Courses, when created to fit with these systems, can be delivered in any LMS or location that is compliant with the same system.
Sharable Courseware Object Reference Model (SCORM)
SCORM is a suite of technical standards that enable e-learning courses and systems to find, import, share, reuse, and export learning content in a standardized way.
Proton Communications operates within SCORM compliance standards.
Aviation Industry CBT Committee (AICC)
To comply with AICC guidelines, a course must meet the requirements for one or more of nine guidelines and recommendations. Because multiple guidelines exist, companies may need to alter their system in order to comply with some systems.
